45th Annual Hawaiian Invitational Water Polo Tournament
Honolulu, HI: August 5-11, 2013
Since its inception in 1968, the Hawaiian Invitational Water Polo Tournament has grown to become among the largest and most prestigious water polo tournaments in the United States. Year-in and year-out, the tournament attracts over 100 teams from around the world. In the past few years, teams from New Zealand, Italy, England, Australia, Brazil and Canada have participated.
Participation is open to a wide range of age-group teams. Historically, the 18 and under girls and boys divisions attract the most competitors, averaging 20 teams each. The second largest are the men's and women's open divisions, usually attracting 10 teams each.
Olympic-size pools are used for all competitions. The University of Hawaii, Punahou School, `Iolani School and Kamehameha School pools, all located within a twenty-minute drive of Waikiki, serve as frequent tournament sites.
Teams can expect to play one game per day during the first five days of the tournament. Those that advance in their division will play in a championship match on the last day of the competition.
Ample time is available during the tournament for your team to experience the beauty and excitement of Oahu. From the majestic and secluded beaches of the North Shore, to the tropical rain forests of the Windward Side, to the non-stop action of Waikiki and Downtown Honolulu, there is something for everyone on the island of Oahu.
Travel International Sports (TIS) is the official sponsor for the tournament. Leveraging off of their wholesale purchasing power, superior group travel planning expertise and exceptional travel industry relationships, they offer U.S. mainland and international tournament participants the most competitive travel packages available.
